Cervia is a resort of ancient origins whose history is connected with the production of salt, the white gold of the ancient times. Since 1979, the Park of the Salt Pan in Cervia has become a protected naturalistic area because of its outstanding flora and fauna. Its territory is included in the southern part of the Regional Park of the Po Delta.
